LICKING COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICELicking County Sheriff's Citizen's AcademyHave you ever wondered what takes place during a typical day at the Licking County Sheriff's Office? Have you ever had questions about basic law or what programs are offered at the Sheriff's Office? Now is your chance to learn everything you ever wanted to know.
The Licking County Sheriff's Office has put together an 8-week program that will offer classes such as: Patrol Operations, Victim's Rights, Sex Crimes, Basic Self Defense and much more. We will also offer civilian Ride-A-Longs with a Deputy throughout the Academy. There will also be a tour of the "old" and "new" County Jail during the seventh week of the Academy.
The Academy is being offered to all of the citizens that are served by the Licking County Sheriff's Office. You must be at least 18 years of age, complete an application, pass a criminal background check, have no felonies or violent misdemeanors and be in possession of a valid Ohio Driver's License. Applications may be picked up between the hours of 8am and 4pm, Monday through Friday, in the Sheriff's Administrative Lobby or downloaded by clicking here. Once the applications are completed you may return them to the Administrative Lobby or mail them to the Sheriff's Office. Applications will then be reviewed and qualified persons will be notified up to two week prior to the start of the Academy.
The classes will be held on Wednesday evenings, one night a week, from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. The eighth week will be a graduations ceremony. Upcoming Academy dates are to be announced with June 2008 as our tentative start. Dates may be adjusted due to holidays and/or emergencies. Light refreshments will be provided. If you have any questions please contact the DARE Deputy, Deputy Nicole Wallace at 740-670-5549. | ||||
